Meet Joel Steward

As described in a past post, we’re dedicating a portion of the blog to handpicked guest correspondents in their twenties who can represent the young members of the Connected Generation and provide relevant insights and strategies for business professionals.

Our first guest on the blog is (drum roll please) Joel Steward—a friend and fellow business school graduate who has a talent for noticing the details and a habit of going over the top in everything he does.

Why Joel? He has a mind for business, a heart for people and a hilarious sense of humor. (He’s the type that makes you spit coffee on your MacBook during story time. Believe me, I’ve done it.) Not only that, he’s spent the last four years living with (and at one point managing) a house of 25 guys, so he’s dialed in on the twenty-something male and will add a fresh perspective to the Connected Generation blog.

Take a moment to get to know Joel a little better in the following interview and look for the first of his insightful posts to appear next week. Joel Steward

Favorite Quote
“I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to, once I’m finished Facebooking…”

Indulgence
I’m addicted to iced espressos with cream. Really addicted. At-least-one-per-day, should-have-bought-Starbuck’s-stock-in-2002-during-the-market-recovery type of addicted.

Wicked Obsession
Beautifully designed, wonderfully engineered, and sumptuously luxurious automobiles with stupidly irresponsible amounts of power that I’m positive will ensure time spent in an orange jumpsuit sharing a minimalist-inspired concrete and steel residence with a roommate named Mo, should I ever raise the capital to obtain one such car. Or ten.

How would you spend an unexpected $100?
Cover my basic living expenses (espresso and gasoline) while researching law schools and MBA programs

Guilty Pleasure
An 800-square foot, professionally decorated display for my clothes, shoes, and accessories in the penthouse suite of my very own skyscraper… Oh wait, that’s Oprah.

I really like horrible reality TV shows, especially the ones on a certain musically-oriented network where they hire casts of heinously self-absorbed and under-intelligent people from malls or public parks and give them predictably corny lines to read from off-camera cue cards while endeavoring to look cool for the predominately twelve-year-old audience.
