Podcast Series: Getting Connected

We have a mantra here at Reach Group: “Connected brands come from connected people.” A lot of our team members are in their 20’s and the tools of the collaborative web for them are as comfortable and familiar as their native tongue.

I have to confess I just turned 40 last week (and had the best party ever!) and for me a lot of these new tools have been a stretch, which is why I am excited about the mini-series we just completed on the podcast about “getting connected.” We are exploring how busy people are learning and incorporating new media and collaborative web-based tools into their personal and professional lives.
It all started when Michelle Wood, brand manager of Nike Women’s CEMEA region, joined me for a podcast conversation while she was working with our team in Eugene, OR for a week. She had great insights on how she has incorporated Web 2.0 tools like blogging into her daily work life.

The next few podcasts in the series explored the concept of inverse mentoring and power pairs. Cassie Pruett and I had a two-part conversation giving the ins and outs of our mutual mentor-style relationship. One of our listeners, Michael Stedman, suggested we replace the term inverse mentoring with “reciprocal mentoring.” I think Michael is right that reciprocal is a much more accurate way to describe this powerful way of helping each other gain new skills and understanding.

To check out the podcast series on getting connected, listen to episodes 35-39 of The Connected Generation Podcast. We would love to hear how you are getting connected and/or helping your team get up to speed.
