Reinventing the Internship: The Dedicated Focus Group

The Connected Generation Podcast: Reinventing the Internship: The Dedicated Focus Group, Episode 72Reach Group Podcast1.jpg

Continuing our internship reinvention series, Lisa and I discuss the potential for companies to utilize their young talent as both internal researchers and auditors. Many companies are spending thousands of dollars on research to make their brands more relevant and compelling to the Connected Generation. Although those white papers, consultants and reports may all have good insights into the cravings of this group, we think “who better to learn from than the people you’re trying to reach?”

Looking at it from the perspective of the internship, we wonder what would happen if you were to bring in a team of interns whose sole purpose was to be a living focus group for your organization. Not only would they be sharing their own perspective but they could tap into their friends and the larger networks they’re connected to bring fresh insights back to your organization. From internal process to external brand campaigns, we believe the feedback and insight that you could gain from this group could greatly influence your current strategies for reaching the Connected Generation as both consumers and new talent.

Another great idea. We have several clients whose brands are very targeted at the gen y & x audience. As a company in the Middle East region, research for that audience in this market, is nearly non-existent. Therefore, we have to directly reach out to them to get insights first hand. The youth in this region are fascinating. They have jumped the learning curve in their adoption of western technology and consumption habits, but have retained much of their traditions simultaneously.
